Rare modern new construction house on traditional Lincoln Square block

Most new construction single family homes in Lincoln Square mimic the traditional style frame homes that line the blocks... only built larger with high-end finishes. This is especially true north of West Lawrence Avenue and east of North Western Avenue where truly contemporary modern homes are basically non-exisitant.

These modern/ contemporary builds tend to be private custom projects... meaning it is not a speculation home for sale. It's a bold choice considering the more vocal neighbors want to maintain a particular character when it comes to new construction and renovations.  I enjoy seeing modern new construction and contemporary renovations and look forward to the finished house.

The owners are taking advantage of the revitalizing West Lawrence (a couple houses to the south) and North Damen Avenues where the nearby Mariano's grocery and LA Fitness are being followed by hip restaurants and bars. There are a lot of amenities nearby before even crossing to the popular North Lincoln Avenue dining and shopping district at Giddings Plaza.  The location is close to the CTA Damen Brown Line and Ravenswood Metra station as well at 4800 N Ravenswood, Chicago IL 60640

Late 19th century and turn of the century period architecture (20th century that is) defines eastern Lincoln Park, Chicago at the Lakefront. It's rare that you see a contemporary single family home and even more rare when one changes hands right on the lakefront park system.

Walking home from the zoo a couple weeks ago, I remembered this home at 2474 N Lakeview recently sold for $4,000,000 at the end of 2009. Alien to its neighbors, yet somehow unpretentious in its landscape, the 1991 custom built home faces Lincoln Park just north of West Fullerton Avenue.
