Lincoln Park holiday spirit!

I stopped at a recent client's Lincoln Park condo for a quick hello. I took a second to admire the awesome holiday lights at the neighbor's house at Seminary and Wilson. It lights up the block! Not a bad Audi commercial as well LOL

The ice rink at Wrigley Field opens November 24th

The ice was a little steamy this morning as workers prepare the surface at Wrigley Field (all photos Eric Rojas, Broker, Kale Realty).
Workers were preparing the ice rink at the park at Wrigley Field this morning (I refuse to use the corporate name!).   The ice rink opens November 24th.  The surrounding neighborhood is getting ready for the Holidays in this weird late Thanksgiving / early snow storm season!

The median price of a sold single family house is about $2,000,000 over the last 12 months.  The median price of a sold condo over the same period is about $419,000.

Happy Easter Streeterville style!

Photo Bob DePalma and Eric Rojas, Brokers, Kale Realty
Spotted the Easter Bunny's private car at the Peninsula Hotel 108 East Superior, Chicago 60611 this week. Even "His Bunniness" needs a little pampering after being petted, pulled, and kicked by egg and chocolate craving kids.

Happy Easter.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas Chicago

In Chicago Santa Claus uses public transportation to deliver presents. If you are naughty you have to take the Red Line from Addison after a Cub's game.

One of a Kind Show and Sale at Merchandise Mart this week!

Check out the artisan goods at Merchandise Mart this week. Photo Bob DePalma, Broker, Kale Realty

Christmas and the Holidays means many annual shows and events.  One of Bob's favorites is this week.  One of a Kind Show and Sale at the Merchandise Mart 222 W Merchandise Mart Plaza, Chicago, IL 60654 runs Thursday December 4th through Sunday December 7th this week.

Additionally, while you're at the Mart, check out all the home improvement and design stores on floors 1 and 2...open to the public.  We see good deals this time of year.

Spooky in East Lakeview

Some people love Halloween.  I have seen this set up for a few years now on the 500 block of West Briar.

Yikes.

Chicago Millennium Park "ice skating" fun!

Seriously fun and a great setting (Photo Eric Rojas, Real Estate Broker)
I say "ice skating" because our kids were out on skates for the first time.  Dad's back is OKAY (in case you are wondering).  I think they will stick to swimming.

It took awhile to get them off the handrails
Our 4 year old fared a little better.
Gorgeous early December weather on Sunday.  What a sight!
Skate rental was $10 a pair and easy (although we hit it at the right time and walked right up). Skating is free... so bring your own skates and snacks for a low cost good time.  Or, visit the Park Grill for a warm up. DNAinfo.com has a nice story about ice skating at Millennium Park and some handy links HERE

MLK and Inauguration Day

The kids (5 3/4, 3 1/2, and 10 months) received a short lecture on today's significance... then they were off to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

Have a good one.

Happy New Year and Thank You

Bob and I thank our clients for a record year in sales in 2012. We are truly partners with our buyers and sellers and enjoy providing research, resources and solid advice so they may accomplish their goals.

My wife and I also welcomed a new family member. Our third child Stanley was born in April - during the spring market.  That's a "no no" around here but we managed.

Of course, the Chicago market was very active and alive in 2012.  It surprised many.  Each year brings new options, strategy and procedures when buying, selling, renting or investing in property.  We stay prepared and adjust for the times allowing us to successfully consult our clients and add value to their transactions.

Merry Christmas!

We took a drive by this house in Medinah last evening.  The photo does not do justice to this masterpiece.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The kids insisted on walking several blocks downtown (in the rain with no complaints) to hand deliver their letters to Santa this year at Christkindlmarket.

Shopping slingshots and skulls in Andersonville

We try and do a fair amount of local gift shopping in Andersonville and Lincoln Square. One our kids' surprise favorites this year was the design store The Haymaker Shop in Andersonville.

 You'll shoot your eye out!
Chalkboard skulls
Despite the excellent argument for a slingshot...we bought a candle. The Haymaker Shop has a great Facebook page HERE

Coincidentally, one of my favorite contractors, Artistic Construction (Facebook), did the build-out of the store when they were opening. Artistic Construction online HERE

Our 2012 Official Thanksgiving Turkey

This year's official Thanksgiving turkey art comes from our barely 3 year old Amalia. The complex, multilayer abstract was produced in her renowned Pre-K art studio (her classroom).  I must admit it's a much more thought provoking work than our oldest son's at 3 1/2 years old (produced in the same classroom).

The artist at her home studio.

Happy Thanksgiving.
