Shoot. If I had waited two week I would've been able to claim the $8,000 credit.

*sigh*

There is not much fairness in this "stimulus" and housing package. My wife and I actually feel penalized. Where's our motivation to sell our duplex condo and buy a single family house in our neighborhood?

That said, at least it sounds like you and I are not in deep "doo doo" and you probably got a good mortgage interest rate (if not a cash buyer). We love our place and re-financed to a low rate knowing we probably would not get "government cheese" to help with a purchase of a single family house.
