The politics of development

I was at an election night party a couple weeks ago talking with a Chicago Department of Transportation official about the explosion of commercial, mixed use and residential developments over the past two years.
A new Lou Malnati's Pizzeria rises at 4344 N Lincoln Avenue, Chicago IL 60618 in the North Center neighborhood. It's part of a steady churn of major restaurant, retail, apartment and office development from South Loop to Lincoln Square.
He mentioned how many projects were going to swamp his desk after the (alderman and mayoral) elections. NOBODY is making a decision right now.  This is true for small residential buildings and high profile projects like the Wrigley Field renovation where the mayoral run-off has the Cub's at bay.

Look for many more projects to hit your neighborhood after April!
